Intro to Wool Applique & Embroidery
Get back to basics and join us for 4 weeks of
wool appliqué and embroidery stitching!
Learn the basics of wool appliqué and embroidery as we work our way through Sue's Creative Stitching book and experiment with different weights of thread. Great for beginners, or as a refresher course for those wanting to refine their skills.
Create a sampler showcasing your work, and finish it into a wall hanging, needle roll, or keep it as a practice piece as you expand your knowledge and embroidery skills! Leave this workshop with the confidence to tackle any wool applique or embroidery project and continue your creative journey!
Fridays, 9am-12pm for 4 weeks
September 27, October 4, 11 and 18
In this class, you will:
- Learn all about needles and threads, and what we use them for
- Learn and practice wool applique on a variety of shapes
- Learn and practice a variety of embroidery stitches like running stitch, backstitch, chain stitch, woven stitches, fly stitch, french knots, bullion knots and more!
- Get one-on-one assistance from Sue's daughter, Aimee and shop manager, Abby
- Enjoy the company of other like-minded creatives wanting to learn a new skill!
Meet the instructors!
Sue's youngest daughter, Aimee, has worked for the business since 2015. She is the CFO, head of human resources, manages Sue’s schedule, as well as, the many responsibilities that fall under ‘front of house’. Recently, Aimee has fallen in love with hand piecing through completion of many of Jen Kingwell's quilt designs, but follows in her mother's footsteps as a jack of all trades and master of embroidery. She's assisted Sue in many of her teaching endeavors, and is looking forward to teaching more classes on her own and continuing her own learning.
Abby came to us through a high school work program in 2014, and we welcomed her back full time in 2017. She's a jack of all trades, having moved through departments, finding a home as our shop manager as well as coordinating Sue's Ohio classes. Over the past few years, Abby's embroidery skills have flourished through making shop samples, teaching beginner embroidery classes, and even designing her own pincushion kit! She enjoys working face to face with customers and students, and has a great eye for color and design.
Each class registration includes wool applique starter kit as well as use of our collection of Ellana Wool Threads during class. You will also need to bring:
- Creative Stitching Book
- Hand dyed wool fat 1/16
- Needles: Chenille #24 and 18, Milliners #3, 1 and 15
- Eleganza or HOB Perle Cotton in #8, 5 and 3
- Chalk pencil
- Embroidery scissors
Class is held in our Ohio Studio located at 3755 Boettler Oaks Dr, Suite B, Uniontown, OH 44685.
Supplies are available for purchase in-store during class if not purchased ahead of time.

Cancellation fees reflect the cost of registration, staff, instructor contracts, material acquisitions, and other services. This policy applies to all registrants, regardless of the reason for canceling. We encourage you to take our cancellation policies into consideration before registering for classes.
If you need to cancel your registration, you have the following options:
Transfer:
Registrants who cancel their enrollment in a workshop held in our Ohio studio may make a one-time transfer to any other workshop held in our studio.
- Transfers may be made either in the current workshop season, or any workshop in the following year. Transfers must be made more than 15 days prior to the workshop, and are subject to a 5% cancellation fee.
Refund:
If you prefer not to transfer your workshop registration, the following fees apply:
- More than 30 days prior to the workshop, refund of your deposit minus a 20% cancellation fee.
- Less than 30 days prior to the workshop, no refunds will be issued.
Redirect:
Registrants are able to send someone in their place into the workshop for no additional fee. In this case, no refunds will be issued, payment arrangements are the responsibility of the original registrant if needed.
